Could CCTV Help Carla Save Underworld in Coronation Street?

Carla Connor-Swain has faced plenty of battles to keep Underworld running in Coronation Street, but could an overlooked piece of evidence finally give her the upper hand against Idris?

With the factory devastated by deliberate sabotage, Carla is fighting to protect the business and the workers who depend on her. Viewers are now questioning whether security cameras could expose exactly what happened.

Idris paid Brody to trigger Underworld’s sprinkler system, destroying valuable stock and leaving Carla facing a financial crisis. Leanne subsequently discovered the truth but agreed to keep quiet, while Brody has become increasingly troubled by the consequences.

Carla has also revealed that the sprinkler system had not received its required maintenance, raising concerns that her insurance claim could be rejected.

Could security footage reveal the truth?

The sabotage has prompted viewers to question why CCTV has not yet provided the answers.

One viewer asked on X: “Are we expected to believe the factory has no alarm system, no CCTV cameras and no insurance?”

Another commented: “Convenient that there are never any cameras in Weatherfield!”

A third added: “For all the people asking about CCTV footage from the factory, there is never any footage on Coronation Street when you need it!”

The factory’s alarm was activated during the incident, but that does not establish whether CCTV was operating or whether footage exists. Even if recordings were available, the insurance dispute would still depend on the policy and the circumstances of the damage.

However, cameras are not Carla’s only possible route to the truth. Leanne knows what Idris arranged, while Brody is increasingly uncomfortable with the harm he has caused.

Carla has people fighting alongside her

Despite the enormous pressure, Carla is determined to find a way forward. Lisa has alwsys been beside her as a supporting wife, encouraging her.

Carla also received a welcome reminder of her workers’ loyalty when Sean and the Underworld team offered their support, making clear how much they want the factory to survive.

Idris may be waiting for Carla to approach him about selling, but he has underestimated the strength of the people standing beside her.

With Brody already struggling with guilt, could the truth emerge before Idris gets his hands on Underworld?
