Home and Away: Beau Attacks Harper as His Jealousy Takes a Terrifying Turn

Harper is left shocked, hurt and frightened when Beau’s increasingly troubling behaviour escalates into physical violence. What begins as jealousy over her friendship with Remi ends with Beau backhanding Harper across the face after she refuses to accept his accusations.

The confrontation comes after Dana and Sonny’s engagement party, where Beau becomes increasingly interested in Harper’s interactions with Remi. While Harper is simply celebrating her younger sister’s engagement, Beau interprets the evening very differently and his jealousy quickly begins to surface.

Harper initially suggests throwing a party for Dana and Sonny, but the idea upsets Beau because the couple have finally managed to spend some time alone together. Harper understands his frustration and apologises for not discussing the party with him first, but that does little to prevent tensions from building later.

At the celebration, Beau watches as Remi speaks privately with Harper and starts pressing Lacey for information about him. Out of earshot, Remi is actually trying to establish how much Harper knows about Beau and Sonny’s “gym buddy” friendship, but Harper dismisses his interest as jealousy.

The situation becomes much darker after Beau leaves the party early and asks Harper to meet him at Salt. Once they are together, Beau accuses her of spending the night chatting up the “millionaire guy”, referring to Remi.

Harper initially tries to reassure him that there is no reason for him to be jealous, and the pair agree to get a drink and attempt to work things out. However, the disagreement is far from resolved.

The following morning, Harper accepts that she made a mistake by not prioritising some time alone with Beau, but she refuses to apologise for celebrating Dana’s engagement. She makes the reasonable point that it was her baby sister’s engagement party and she was entitled to enjoy the occasion rather than allowing Beau to pull her away from it.

It is at this point that Beau’s temper reaches a frightening new level. He backhands Harper across the face, leaving her shocked, injured and deeply frightened by what he has done.

The assault marks a serious escalation in Beau’s treatment of Harper. His jealousy over Remi has moved beyond suspicious questions and accusations, with Harper now facing physical violence simply for standing by her decision to celebrate an important moment with her sister.

There is also a painful contrast between the two sisters. Dana is celebrating her engagement and speaking openly about how much she trusts Sonny, while Harper is dealing with a relationship in which Beau’s jealousy and anger are becoming increasingly alarming.

Remi, meanwhile, already knows more about Beau than Harper realises. His concerns are currently centred on Beau’s connection to Sonny and the steroid operation, but his decision to question Harper shows he is paying close attention to what is happening around Beau.

For Harper, however, the immediate issue is far more personal. She has tried to reassure Beau and acknowledged where she believes she could have handled things differently, but none of that excuses his decision to hit her.

After the attack leaves Harper frightened and hurt, the question now is whether she will continue trying to make the relationship work or recognise that Beau has crossed a line she cannot ignore.
