Home and Away: Amelia Considers Leaving Summer Bay as David Keeps His Distance
Amelia faces a major decision in upcoming Home and Away scenes as David continues avoiding her, leaving their chance of a relationship increasingly uncertain.
Amelia begins contemplating a future away from Summer Bay in upcoming Home and Away scenes as David continues to keep his distance. After taking the risk of admitting her feelings to him, Amelia has been left with days of silence and little indication of whether David is ever going to give her the answer she needs.
The situation has become increasingly awkward, and Leah and Justin can both see what is happening between them. Rather than confronting his feelings, however, David tells Justin that his plan is to avoid Amelia, believing distance is the best way to handle the situation.
Amelia has a very different perspective. She opens up to Leah about having admitted how she feels, only for David to effectively leave her waiting without a response.
With Amelia’s hospital contract approaching its end, that silence could now have much bigger consequences. She begins considering whether leaving Summer Bay might actually be for the best, raising the possibility that David could run out of time to decide what he really wants.
Amelia has already made herself vulnerable by being open about her feelings, and there is only so long she can reasonably remain in limbo. David’s reluctance to engage may be understandable given what he has been through, but from Amelia’s position, she has been given no certainty that waiting will lead anywhere.
Her work at the hospital soon provides a major distraction when Levi is brought in following his climbing ordeal. Mackenzie, Eden and Abigail arrive desperate for news, while Cash is left wrestling with guilt over the desperate measures needed to free his friend.
Amelia later brings Levi’s medical results, confirming some encouraging news after the terrifying accident. There are no fractures to his hand or arm and his head CT shows no bleeding or swelling, although serious concerns remain over whether he will regain full use of his hand.
The emergency demonstrates just how established Amelia has become within life in Summer Bay, but her contract means that presence is not necessarily permanent. If she decides there is nothing keeping her there once her work comes to an end, David could suddenly find himself facing the consequences of remaining silent.
David, meanwhile, is concentrating on another important part of his life. He tells Jo that he has been cleared to return to police work, despite her concerns over whether he is genuinely ready.
His determination to move forward professionally sits in sharp contrast to the way he is handling Amelia. David appears ready to confront the demands of returning to the police, yet when it comes to his feelings for her, avoidance remains his preferred solution.
Nothing in the upcoming scenes confirms that Amelia will definitely leave Summer Bay, and there is still an opportunity for David to finally address what is happening between them. But her willingness to consider leaving means the situation can no longer remain unresolved indefinitely.
David may believe keeping his distance protects them both from a difficult situation. If Amelia decides her future lies elsewhere, however, he could discover that avoiding a decision was ultimately a decision in itself.
