Hollyoaks has delivered a major shock by revealing that Imran Maalik was behind Ste Hay’s disappearance, with Cindy Cunningham helping him cover his tracks.
A special flashback episode pieced together the events leading up to Ste vanishing, exposing a revenge plot that reaches far beyond the village.
The story began a year earlier in Los Angeles, where Imran and Cindy met at a therapist’s office. Their chance encounter sparked a romance as they shared painful memories, including Imran’s anger towards James Nightingale over his father’s death and the trauma Ste had inflicted on his family.
Back in the present, Imran’s discovery that Leah had cheated on him brought him closer to Cindy. But their relationship took a dark turn when Imran spotted an opportunity to get even with Ste.
After learning that Gemma Johnson had arranged Mercedes McQueen’s kidnapping, Imran contacted Brick and forced him to abduct Ste from a shopping centre. Cindy then helped frame James by planting evidence and uploading an AI-generated video to his laptop.
The plan became even more sinister when Imran dragged Lucas into the cover-up, using the teenager’s involvement in Rex Gallagher’s death to stop him contacting the police.
Despite Cindy urging him to abandon his revenge, Imran continued, leaving Lucas in danger and James facing arrest.
With Lucas knowing the truth, Imran faces a serious risk of exposure. Will he get away with his actions, and can Ste be found before it is too late?
