Jonah's determination to stop Caleb leaving the village reaches alarming new levels in Hollyoaks, but what is really driving his behaviour?
Caleb Keane has his heart set on travelling and experiencing life beyond the village, but his decision is proving almost impossible for Jonah to accept.
As Caleb prepares for a new chapter, Jonah goes to extraordinary lengths to convince him to stay. He organises a family gathering, reveals a closely guarded family secret and repeatedly pleads with his son to rethink his decision. Yet despite everything Jonah says, Caleb remains determined to leave.
At first glance, Jonah's actions could be mistaken for those of an overprotective father struggling to let his son go. However, it soon becomes clear there is something much darker driving his behaviour.
The family secret Jonah reveals appears to be only part of the story. Rather than accepting Caleb's choice, Jonah becomes increasingly fixated on finding another way to keep him close, even as those around him remain unaware of how far he is prepared to go.
That desperation ultimately leads into Hollyoaks' upcoming Fabricated or Induced Illness storyline, with viewers discovering Jonah secretly drugs Caleb in an attempt to make him too ill to leave the village.
The shocking development completely changes the way viewers see Jonah. What initially appeared to be fear of losing his son is revealed to be something far more dangerous, with Jonah believing he can control Caleb's future by controlling his health.
The storyline is expected to explore the emotional impact on everyone around the Keane family, particularly as loved ones begin questioning why Caleb repeatedly becomes unwell. Beth is also dealing with her own concerns after her anxiety medication mysteriously disappears, adding further tension as the family's world starts falling apart.
