Misbah has made no secret of her doubts about Leah's relationship with Imran, and in upcoming Hollyoaks scenes those concerns refuse to go away.

Although she makes a genuine effort to get to know Leah better, Misbah cannot shake the feeling that something is not quite right. With the wedding drawing closer, she wants to believe her son has found the right person, but several moments leave her questioning whether Leah can really be trusted.

Misbah's worries first began after seeing changes in Imran following the start of the relationship. She has struggled with Leah's attitude and has never been convinced the couple are building their future on solid foundations.

Determined to prove his mum wrong, Imran encourages the two women to spend more time together. The plan initially appears to work as Misbah and Leah enjoy a friendly conversation while discussing wedding preparations.

For a moment, it seems as though the family has turned a corner. Misbah appears willing to leave the past behind and give Leah the benefit of the doubt.

However, the atmosphere soon changes.

Leah unexpectedly brings up Vicky's eating struggles during their conversation, leaving Misbah uncomfortable. Rather than strengthening the growing bond between them, the comments only reinforce Misbah's belief that Leah sometimes fails to recognise when she has crossed a line.

Elsewhere, another conversation adds to the uncertainty surrounding Leah's future with Imran.

When she opens up to Prince about whether she is capable of remaining faithful to her fiancé, it raises fresh questions over her commitment to the relationship. While nothing has happened, the discussion is enough to leave viewers wondering whether Leah has lingering doubts of her own.

Taken separately, each incident could be dismissed as poor judgement. Together, though, they paint a picture that may explain why Misbah has found it so difficult to embrace Leah as part of the family.

Whether Misbah's instincts prove to be right remains to be seen, but with the wedding approaching, she has every reason to keep a close eye on what happens next. If Leah really wants to become part of the Maalik family, she may have to work much harder to convince her future mother in law that she deserves her place.
