Guernsey Pride 2026: Turn the Channel Islands Celebration Into a Weekend Escape
Channel Islands Pride returns to Guernsey from 11 to 13 September 2026, combining Pride celebrations with beaches, coastal walks and an island getaway.
Guernsey is preparing for a colourful September weekend as Channel Islands Pride returns from 11 to 13 September 2026, marking ten years since the event was first held on the island.
Organised by LGBT charity Liberate, Channel Islands Pride alternates between Guernsey and Jersey, creating a celebration with a setting very different from the large city Pride events found across Europe.
This year, the main celebrations take place on Saturday 12 September. The day begins with a gathering at the Rainbow Steps in St Peter Port before the Pride march travels through the town and along the seafront, finishing at the Pride Village at the Bathing Pools.
The celebrations stretch across the weekend rather than ending with the march. Friday brings comedy and cabaret, while Saturday includes a drag breakfast before the main Pride programme and further celebrations into the evening. Events continue on Sunday, giving visitors plenty of reason to make more than a day trip of it.
Pride meets an island break
Part of Guernsey’s appeal is just how much can be fitted into a short stay.
St Peter Port provides a natural base, with its harbour, restaurants, shops and historic streets, while the island’s beaches and coastal walking routes are within easy reach. Visitors can spend part of the weekend at Pride and still have time to see considerably more of Guernsey.
For travellers coming from Britain, there is a choice of reaching the island by air or sea. Guernsey has direct flight connections with a number of UK airports, while ferry services provide another option for those who want to make the journey part of the break.
The official Channel Islands Pride website is also encouraging people travelling to the event to explore accommodation and travel options in advance.
Ten years of Pride in Guernsey
The anniversary gives the 2026 celebration added significance. What began a decade ago has developed into an established part of Guernsey’s events calendar, bringing together islanders and visitors for a weekend centred on visibility, community and celebration.
It also introduces travellers to a destination they may not previously have considered for an LGBT friendly short break.
Rather than trying to recreate the scale of London, Brighton or other major Pride destinations, Guernsey offers something more compact: Pride beside the sea, an island to explore and a weekend that can easily become a longer escape.
For anyone still deciding where to squeeze in one more late summer trip, Channel Islands Pride provides a very different reason to discover Guernsey.
