Anyone hoping for a last-minute twist can stop waiting.

Margaret and Oklahoma Governor Cal Thresher did not survive the plane crash over the Pacific. Episode 2 of Tulsa King season 4, “Blind Rooster,” closes the door the premiere left ajar and sends Dwight into the darkest chapter of his story yet.

How It Happened

The blow landed in the final moments of the season premiere. After a romantic dinner with Dwight, Margaret said her goodbyes so she and Thresher could fly to an overseas conference. Soon after takeoff, the pilots were seen slumped unconscious in the cockpit while air traffic control tried, and failed, to raise them. Dwight was then woken with the news that the plane had gone down.

The premiere offered a sliver of hope that a dramatic rescue might be coming. “Blind Rooster” ends that possibility for good.

Stallone’s Decision

According to Sylvester Stallone, killing Margaret was his own idea, developed with head writer Terence Winter. The goal was to shake up the show before it settled into a pattern. In the dangerous world Dwight lives in, Stallone says, sudden upheaval is inevitable, and the team wanted to avoid redundancy. Taking away Dwight’s happiness and stability puts him back where audiences first met him: a vulnerable underdog with everything to prove.

Stallone drew a direct line to Rocky, comparing the choice to the death of Adrian. Just as Rocky had to face loneliness and grief, Dwight must now fight a deeply personal battle that no amount of muscle or muscle-bound menace can win.

A Different Kind of Dwight

The fallout leaves Dwight a changed man. The usual swagger is gone, replaced by paranoia, survivor’s guilt and a heavy psychological toll. He grows superstitious and turns to religion, questioning why he was spared, seeking answers in church, and even turning to AI to ask God why he lived while Margaret did not.
