Google Vids Makes 1080p AI Video Generation Free With Gemini Omni
Google Vids now gives anyone with a Google account free 1080p AI video generation using Gemini Omni, with scene extensions and precise controls.
Google is opening up AI video creation to far more people, allowing anyone with a Google account to generate 1080p video in Google Vids without paying for a subscription.
Google Vids is the company’s online video creation and editing tool, while Gemini Omni 1.1 Flash is Google’s latest AI model for generating and editing video. Bringing the two together means users can now create AI-generated scenes from a desktop without needing professional editing software or a paid Google Workspace account.
The free access goes beyond entering a prompt and receiving a short clip. Users can extend existing scenes while asking the AI to maintain details including characters, lighting and surroundings, helping different sections of a video remain visually consistent.
Creators can also specify exactly how long they want a generated clip to last. New footage can be produced in 1080p HD, while existing AI-generated clips can be upscaled to improve their quality.
Google previously introduced Gemini Omni in Vids for paid Workspace users. The significant development now is access, with AI video generation becoming available at no cost to people using ordinary Google accounts.
Free does not necessarily mean unlimited. Google says its AI plans and paid Workspace accounts provide greater access to video generation, giving heavier users the option of larger generation allowances.
Every clip created with Gemini Omni in Google Vids also contains SynthID, Google’s invisible digital watermark that can be used to identify content generated by its AI systems.
More is coming. Google plans to add AI text-to-speech capable of turning a written script into a voiceover in more than 100 languages.
For independent creators, social video makers and people simply curious about generative video, that removes another barrier to experimenting with the technology. Google is effectively putting HD AI video creation in front of anyone who already has one of its accounts.
