Eurovision 2027 Host City Confirmed as Burgas With Dates and Arena Revealed

Eurovision 2027 is officially heading to Bulgaria’s Black Sea coast after Burgas was selected to host the 71st Eurovision Song Contest. The seaside city will welcome artists, delegations and thousands of fans as Bulgaria stages Eurovision on home soil for the first time.

The Eurovision Song Contest 2027 Grand Final will take place at Arena Burgas on Saturday 15 May, following the first Semi Final on Tuesday 11 May and the second Semi Final on Thursday 13 May. All three live television shows will be staged inside the modern Arena Burgas.

Bulgaria earned the opportunity to host Eurovision after DARA won the 2026 Contest in Vienna with “Bangaranga”. Her victory delivered Bulgaria its first Eurovision title since the country joined the competition in 2005 and immediately opened the race to decide which Bulgarian city would host the following Contest.

Burgas was not the only city hoping to bring Eurovision to its doorstep. Sofia, Plovdiv and Varna also entered the Host City process, before Burgas and Sofia progressed to the final stage of the selection.

The eventual decision followed a detailed assessment involving Bulgarian National Television (BNT) the European Broadcasting Union and Eurovision experts. Proposed venues, production requirements, accommodation, transport, international connections and the wider plans each city had for Eurovision were among the factors considered.

Burgas ultimately secured the Contest with a proposal built around Arena Burgas and the city’s ability to accommodate the huge international event. Its transport infrastructure, tourism capacity and plans to make Eurovision part of the wider city experience also helped strengthen the successful bid.

The result means Eurovision will move away from the type of major European capital often associated with hosting the Contest. Burgas is Bulgaria’s fourth largest city and sits directly on the Black Sea, giving Eurovision 2027 a coastal setting surrounded by beaches, parks and one of the country’s established tourism destinations.

International visitors will also have Burgas Airport close to the Host City. The airport is around 10 kilometres from central Burgas, making it considerably easier for fans arriving directly on the Black Sea coast to reach their accommodation and the wider Eurovision area.

Eurovision week will involve much more than the three televised shows. Six additional Preview Shows are planned between Monday 10 May and Saturday 15 May, giving fans further opportunities to see the performances inside Arena Burgas before and around the live Semi Finals and Grand Final.

The additional shows traditionally include performances staged for juries and audiences ahead of the televised broadcasts. Exact ticket prices, sale dates and the final audience configuration inside Arena Burgas are still to be announced as preparations continue.

Fans hoping to attend Eurovision 2027 will also need to follow the official ticket registration process when further details are released. Eurovision has confirmed that Eurofan, its free official fan club, will play a role in access to the ticket sale.

The Contest is also expected to spread across Burgas rather than remaining confined to the arena. Plans include a wider programme of entertainment and cultural activity, while details surrounding Eurovision Village, EuroClub and other official fan events will become clearer as the Host City preparations develop.

Sofia, Plovdiv and Varna are not expected to disappear completely from Bulgaria’s Eurovision plans either. BNT has indicated that the other cities involved in the bidding process could form part of the wider accompanying programme as the country prepares for its first Eurovision as host.

The countdown to Eurovision 2027 is therefore about far more than revealing a new arena. DARA’s victory has taken the Contest to Bulgaria for the first time, and Burgas is now preparing to turn its Black Sea setting into the centre of the Eurovision world in May 2027.
