European Summer Pride 2026 brings a new LGBT week to Portugal’s Algarve
European Summer Pride launches in Faro, Portugal from 26 September to 3 October 2026, combining Pride, beaches, parties and an Algarve holiday.
Portugal’s Algarve is getting a new LGBT travel event this autumn as European Summer Pride launches its first edition in Faro.
Running from 26 September to 3 October 2026, the week is being designed as much around having a holiday as attending Pride. Instead of a single parade or weekend celebration, visitors can spend a full week combining beaches, nightlife, activities and trips around southern Portugal.
Faro makes an interesting choice. Best known as the gateway to the Algarve, the city is often passed through by travellers heading straight for the region’s resorts, but its historic centre, waterfront and access to the islands and beaches of the Ria Formosa make it a destination in its own right.
Late September also gives travellers the chance to visit after the busiest part of the Portuguese summer, while still making the most of the Algarve’s warmer climate.
Pride mixed with an Algarve holiday
European Summer Pride is being created by the team behind European Snow Pride, but swaps the mountains and ski slopes for southern Portugal.
The planned programme includes beach time, watersports, catamaran events, dinners, cabaret, karaoke, club nights and excursions around the Algarve. There will also be opportunities to explore Faro itself rather than spending the entire week inside Pride venues.
That makes it particularly suited to travellers who want their LGBT events mixed into a wider holiday rather than being the sole reason for travelling.
Faro is also well placed for anyone wanting to extend the trip. The Algarve stretches west towards destinations including Albufeira, Lagos and Sagres, while the Spanish border and the eastern Algarve are within easy reach in the opposite direction.
Visitors could therefore use European Summer Pride as the centrepiece of a longer Portugal trip, adding extra beach days or exploring more of the region before or after the event.
When is European Summer Pride 2026?
European Summer Pride takes place in Faro, Portugal from 26 September until 3 October 2026.
As with any major event, travellers should check the latest programme and accommodation details before booking, particularly if there are specific parties or activities they want to attend.
For anyone who thought Europe’s LGBT travel season finished with the big summer Pride weekends, Faro offers another option. A week of Pride, beaches and Algarve sunshine at the beginning of autumn could make this new event one to watch.
