EuroGames Cardiff 2027 Sports: All 38 Events Athletes Can Enter

EuroGames Cardiff 2027 will offer competitors a huge choice when Europe’s largest LGBTQ+ inclusive multi sport event comes to the UK from 14 to 17 July 2027.

A total of 38 sports are currently included in the Cardiff programme, bringing together traditional team competitions, individual events, outdoor challenges, water sports and accessible sport.

What sports are at EuroGames Cardiff 2027?

The full programme currently includes artistic swimming, badminton, 3x3 basketball, beach volleyball, boccia, bouldering, cricket, cycling, dance sport, darts, field hockey, floorball, football, functional fitness, golf, hiking, korfball, martial arts and netball.

Athletes can also register for padel, petanque, powerlifting, road running, rowing, sailing, softball, squash, stand up paddleboarding, swimming, table tennis, ten pin bowling, tennis, touch rugby, track and field, trail running, volleyball, water polo and 3x3 wheelchair basketball.

That range means Cardiff 2027 will look very different depending on the competitor. Someone could spend the Games on a football pitch or athletics track, while another athlete could be competing on the water, at a dartboard or out on the trails around South Wales.

EuroGames is not only for elite athletes

One of the important differences between EuroGames and many major international sporting events is that participation is not restricted to professional or elite competitors.

The European Gay and Lesbian Sport Federation says EuroGames can include different age, ability and skill categories. The aim is to create opportunities for people with different levels of sporting experience rather than building the entire event around the highest level of competition.

The Games are also open in principle to anyone who supports the values of the event, including LGBTQ+ athletes and allies.

Accessible sport is part of the programme

Accessibility has also been built into Cardiff’s sporting plans. Boccia and 3x3 wheelchair basketball are included in the current list of 38 sports, while organisers have said parasport will be integrated into the wider EuroGames programme.

This matters because Cardiff 2027 is presenting inclusion as something that should run throughout the event rather than existing as a separate part of it.

With 38 different sports to choose from and thousands of competitors expected in Wales, the scale of Cardiff 2027 is becoming much clearer as registration continues.
