Emmerdale’s Sadie King Return Reopens Old Flames and Secrets
Sadie King’s first week back in Emmerdale brings a Robert reunion, old grudges, suspicious snooping and fresh questions over what she really wants.
Sadie King has only been back in Emmerdale for a few episodes, but she has already reopened old romances, reignited old grudges and created a new mystery over what she is really doing in the village.
Her spectacular helicopter return after Jimmy’s death has put her straight back among people who remember exactly what she was like the first time around.

Her connection to Jimmy has already proved more complicated than first appeared.
Sadie claimed that she and her former husband had secretly rekindled their relationship, while flashback scenes revealed Jimmy was actually on the phone to Sadie when he swerved to avoid Vinny, crashed his car and died.

The Woolpack then provided one of the best examples of how much history Sadie left behind. Chas greeted her with the cutting but hilarious remark,
“Who opened the crypt?”
while Bob made it equally clear that her return was not being celebrated by everyone.
Robert was sitting with Aaron when he noticed Sadie across the pub and got up to approach his former flame.

The pair had not seen one another for around 20 years, and Sadie looked at him before making the rather appropriate observation:
“You’ve changed.”
There was an extra joke hidden in the moment for long term viewers. Karl Davies played Robert during Sadie’s original years in Emmerdale, while Ryan Hawley now plays him, so the man standing in front of her really is completely different.

Later, Robert sat back down with Aaron and his history with Sadie quickly became the subject of conversation. When Aaron asked whether he had once had a thing with her, Robert initially played it down with:
“I… may have dabbled once or twice.”
Aaron appeared amused by Robert’s version of events, and Robert eventually admitted:
“I was 18. She taught me a lot.”
Their relationship was actually an important part of his younger years because Robert was with Katie at the time and the pair became engaged, only for their relationship to fall apart after he cheated with Sadie.

Robert is now in a happy established relationship with Aaron which has became one of Emmerdale’s best known romances, while Robert’s previous relationships with women remain an established part of his history and his self confirmed bisexuality.
Cain was also brought up during the Woolpack conversation, adding another possible thread to Sadie’s comeback. Her relationship with Cain ended spectacularly after he took millions from her, with the possibility raised that this old history could have something to do with why she has returned.

Sadie then looked around at the familiar faces and summed up the reception she had received herself.
“Ah, here we all are. Same old faces sitting in the same old seats. Bearing the same old grudges,”
she remarked, showing that she was fully aware of the history still surrounding her.
Yet it is Sadie’s behaviour away from the pub that could provide the biggest clue about what comes next. Once inside Nicola’s home, she quietly started searching through the family’s belongings and appeared to find something important among a collection of letters.

Nicola returned before viewers could discover exactly what Sadie wanted. With Jimmy having been on the phone to Sadie just before his fatal crash, her secret search now raises even more questions about why she is really back.
Sadie made her grand entrance by helicopter, and judging by her first week back, she has no intention of fading quietly into the background.
With old grudges, old flames and fresh secrets already bubbling away, she is surely going to stir up plenty more trouble in the village.
