Emmerdale’s Joe Tate arrested over Billy attack as police make dramatic move
Joe Tate is arrested on suspicion of GBH with intent after Billy Fletcher’s brutal attack in Emmerdale. But is the police investigation targeting the wrong man?
Joe Tate finds himself in handcuffs in today’s Emmerdale scenes after police arrest him on suspicion of inflicting grievous bodily harm with intent following the brutal attack on Billy Fletcher.
Billy was recently discovered lying in a pool of blood after ending his relationship with Gabby and sharing a kiss with ex wife Dawn. When Joe learned what had happened between the former couple, suspicion quickly turned towards him.
Before the police arrive, Joe desperately tries to convince Dawn that he is not responsible for the attack.
“Because I love you? Is that a crime?” he asks. “If it is, then I’m guilty, lock me up.”
Joe is then left frustrated when Dawn appears to believe he could have lashed out at Billy over the kiss. Insisting she has the wrong idea about him, Joe argues that although Billy had become “very annoying”, he never wanted him dead.
His defence is cut short when Detective Sergeant Byrne arrives at Home Farm with fellow officers.
The detective informs Joe that he is under arrest on suspicion of inflicting grievous bodily harm with intent on Billy Fletcher before reading him the police caution.
Rather than panic, Joe appears completely unfazed by the arrest.
Responding with a sarcastic “Seriously?”, Joe confidently tells officers they do not have “a shred of evidence” against him. He immediately demands that Graham and his solicitor is contacted before boldly claiming he will be back home within the hour.
Joe’s confidence raises an intriguing question. Is he simply putting on a brave face, or does he genuinely believe the police have arrested the wrong man?
While Joe certainly has a motive after Billy kissed Dawn, the arrest may not be as straightforward as it first appears. Soap mysteries often take unexpected turns, and with Billy left fighting for his future, there are still plenty of unanswered questions surrounding who carried out the vicious attack.
As the investigation continues, viewers will be watching closely to see whether Joe’s confidence is justified or whether detectives have finally caught the person responsible.
