Emmerdale's Jimmy learns honesty is the best policy after gift mistake

Jimmy sets out with the best intentions in upcoming Emmerdale scenes, but one small decision threatens to derail his romantic plans.

Wanting to make Nicola feel special, Jimmy buys her a piece of jewellery and decides to keep it hidden until the perfect moment arrives. Rather than placing it somewhere obvious, he tucks the jewellery box away inside his golf bag.

Unfortunately, Nicola finds it before Jimmy is ready.

Instead of believing the present is for her, Nicola immediately assumes the jewellery belongs to somebody else. From her perspective, Jimmy has hidden an expensive gift and offered no reason for doing so, leaving her to reach her own conclusions.

Jimmy soon discovers that keeping even a harmless secret can sometimes create far bigger problems than simply telling the truth from the beginning. His attempt to build anticipation instead creates suspicion, forcing him to defend himself against accusations he never expected to face.

The misunderstanding leaves Jimmy desperately trying to convince Nicola that the jewellery was always intended for her. However, once doubts begin to grow, they are not always easy to put aside.
