Emmerdale’s Charity Confronts Caitlin Over Rape as Sarah Steps In

In today’s Emmerdale Charity Dingle bravely confronts Caitlin over the rape, determined to make the doctor acknowledge what she did. Caitlin refuses, instead dismissing what happened as a drunken consensual encounter that Charity later regretted and attempting to turn the accusations back onto her.
Caitlin’s words towards Charity are particularly cruel. She calls her a “liar” and an “attention seeker”, while claiming women like Charity make things harder for genuine rape survivors. Caitlin also threatens legal action over the damage Charity could cause to her reputation, but Charity refuses to be intimidated or silenced.
The confrontation becomes physical when Charity pushes Caitlin onto the sofa, but Charity soon pulls herself back. Charity then opens up about being raped previously when she was younger, explaining that Caitlin’s actions brought back the same feelings of powerlessness, shame and degradation.
Charity also challenges Caitlin over being a doctor and a woman, questioning how somebody in a position of trust could do this to another woman. She asks whether Caitlin has assaulted anyone else, before making clear that she will no longer carry the shame Caitlin tried to place upon her.
Sarah then arrives and is horrified by the allegation against Caitlin. Furious, as Caitlin laughs, Sarah pushes Caitlin, who bangs her head and is left unconscious on the floor.
Has Sarah killed Caitlin, or will the doctor survive? Either way, Sarah’s split second reaction could have huge consequences, while Charity has finally confronted the woman she says raped her and refused to be silenced.
