Emmerdale spoilers for 19 to 23 October 2026: Who is involved in the week's biggest developments?
elle, Kammy, Lydia, Kim, Joe, Gabby, Chas and Sadie are among the characters facing difficult developments in Emmerdale.
Several Emmerdale characters face difficult developments, from Belle Dingle receiving news about Tom to Kim Tate being confronted by a social worker. Lydia Dingle is hurt by a misunderstanding, Joe Tate rejects Gabby's empathy and Sadie King sets out to disrupt Caleb's dinner plans with Ruby Miligan.
Here is how the main characters feature in the week's events.
Belle Dingle, Tom, Kammy Hadiq and Rhona Goskirk
Belle's Victim Liaison Officer tells her that Tom will soon be released from prison and reassures her that he will be subject to strict licence conditions. Kammy is pained to see the change in Belle's demeanour when she rushes out, leaving him worried about her.
Belle later talks to Rhona, who has lived experience of what she is going through and helps her take control of her feelings. Kammy wants to protect Belle, but makes an embarrassing declaration of love that leaves Belle running off, unable to cope or respond.
Lydia Dingle, Kim Tate, Samson, Thea and Baby Tate
Lydia is thrilled to assume that Kim has offered Samson a job on his release after sharing her worries with her. She is hurt when she discovers that she and Kim were talking at cross purposes.
Kim and Lydia discuss the baby, but Thea overhears them and jumps to the wrong conclusion about the fate of Baby Tate. Kim later finds herself firmly on the back foot when a social worker arrives demanding to see Joe and his baby following a report of an illegal adoption.
Joe Tate and Gabby Thomas
Joe is struggling with his grief when Gabby attempts to empathise with him. Joe rebuffs her efforts, leaving the pair still at odds with each other as the social worker demands to see Joe and his baby.
Liam Cavanagh and Chas Dingle
Liam is acting furtively, and Chas becomes suspicious about what he is up to. Chas's concern about Liam's behaviour forms another strand of the week's developments.
Sadie King, Caleb and Ruby Miligan
Sadie takes note of Caleb's dinner plans with Ruby before sabotaging his plans for dinner with his wife. Her actions disrupt Caleb's arrangements with Ruby.
