Emmerdale spoilers 11 to 16 October as Samson’s return divides family

Samson Dingle’s impending return from prison threatens to divide his family as Matty Barton struggles with the prospect of having him back.

Sam and Lydia are increasingly excited about welcoming Samson home. When Cain arrives in a bad mood, however, Sam decides to keep the news to himself for the time being.

Cain already has other reasons to be unhappy after being left disappointed by the meagre family turnout at Zak’s memorial.

For Matty, Samson’s return brings painful emotions back to the surface. His impending arrival reopens old wounds and battle lines are drawn between Moira and Samson’s parents, Sam and Lydia.

Tensions continue because Matty has moved into the room the couple had earmarked for Samson’s return from prison. Moira meddles as the family disagreement grows, but the situation eventually reaches the point where Matty comes downstairs carrying a suitcase.

Moira pleads with him not to move out, while Matty tells his mother that she needs to forgive Samson.

Vinny Dingle is also facing an emotional ordeal. Mandy invites him home for tea and surprises him with the whole family gathered together. Vinny feels their love as he prepares to face his court date.

Mandy and Paddy later comfort him and try to convince him that he will be back with them in no time, but Vinny remains visibly scared when he reaches court. Mandy is subsequently left struggling.

Meanwhile, Sadie King continues getting closer to the Miligans. Laurel tears a strip off her after spotting her in the pub, before Sadie tells Ruby about her previous controlling relationship. Sadie later smiles to herself, pleased that she appears to have reeled Ruby in.

Joe Tate then asks Sadie to spy on the Miligans and obtain evidence that could destroy them. Sadie is uncertain at first, but her desperation wins out.

Vanessa later lets a secret slip, leading Sadie to push for further details. Sadie then attempts to get Caleb alone but discovers just how difficult seducing him could be.

Joe has already been brought home drunk by Thea Ramsden, with Kim thanking Thea for being lenient with him. He later appears carrying a brown briefcase as another plan gets underway.

Gabby and Laurel also emotionally hand Aaron Dingle some keys. Robert arrives, explains everything privately and promises to stop scheming once the deal goes through. He later confidently questions Claudette Anderson’s reputation, although he could be proved wrong.

Nicola King also appreciates Bob Hope’s support, despite Bob having bad news of his own.
