Emmerdale reveals why Lawrence Robb is leaving the soap as Mack heads to Germany

Emmerdale has revealed how Mackenzie Boyd will leave the village while actor Lawrence Robb competes on Strictly Come Dancing.

Todays episode saw Mack reveal that he was heading to Germany for a work opportunity expected to keep him away for several months. Robert had arranged a course for Mack, with a grant helping to fund the trip, giving the soap a way to explain the character's temporary absence.

The timing is difficult for Charity Dingle, who has been struggling with family tensions following the revelations surrounding baby Leyla and her strained relationship with granddaughter Sarah. Charity turns to Mack for support, only to discover that her husband is preparing to leave.

There is one positive detail: Mack will be based near Charity's son Noah, who moved to Germany earlier this year. However, his absence will still leave Charity facing the fallout from the family's secrets without her husband beside her.

Lawrence is competing in the 2026 series of Strictly Come Dancing, where he is partnered with professional dancer Jowita Przystał.

Emmerdale airs on ITV1 and is available on ITVX. You can catch up with Strictly come dancing on BBC and iplayer.
