Emmerdale Laurel quits The Hide as Robert's takeover hopes grow
Laurel walks away from The Hide after clashing with Gabby, giving Robert fresh hope that his Emmerdale takeover plan could succeed.
Robert gets another reason to believe his plans for The Hide could pay off in Emmerdale as tensions between Laurel and Gabby finally boil over.
Coming up, the struggling business continues to cause problems for Laurel and Gabby as they clash over its healthy eating menu and their increasingly difficult financial position. What begins as another disagreement soon becomes far more serious when Laurel reaches the end of her patience.
With the pair unable to agree over the direction of The Hide, Laurel announces that she is walking away from the business and storms out.
The split could hardly come at a better time for Robert. He has already told Aaron that he wants to take over The Hide and has been keeping a close eye on the problems facing the venue.
Robert previously offered to look over the accounts and suggested ways Gabby could attract more customers, but privately he has been well aware that the business is struggling.
Now Laurel's decision to leave creates even more uncertainty around The Hide, and Robert is quietly delighted as he watches their plans beginning to fall apart.
Gabby is unaware that somebody else is waiting in the wings with his own ideas for the venue. With Laurel stepping away and the financial pressure continuing, Robert's hopes of eventually getting control of The Hide may just have moved another step closer.
However, Gabby has much more than the business to worry about. Her persistent cough is also becoming increasingly concerning, leaving her dealing with problems on several fronts at once.
Emmerdale continues on ITV1, with episodes also available to stream on ITVX. Image credit: ITV.
