Emmerdale has unveiled a chilling flashforward that confirms a major crime is about to rock the village, with police investigating a mystery death that could change life in the Dales forever.
Before we begin, it is important to stress that nothing has been confirmed by ITV and the identity of the victim remains a closely guarded secret.
These are simply SoaplandTV’s theories, predictions and speculation based on recent storylines, character conflicts, reported exits and clues that have emerged from the flashforward scenes.
We could be completely wrong.
But that is exactly what makes a great soap mystery.
With a body discovered, a crime scene established and a growing list of suspects and enemies, here are our eight most likely candidates.
8. Charity Dingle
Charity sits at the centre of almost everything currently unfolding.
Her ordeal involving Dr Todd remains one of Emmerdale’s biggest ongoing stories, and many of the clues released so far appear connected to its aftermath.
While Charity feels more likely to be involved in the investigation than to become the victim, she cannot be ruled out completely.
If somebody wanted revenge, silence or justice, Charity could find herself directly in danger once again.
The fact that so many roads lead back to her is exactly why she remains on this list.
7. Vinny Dingle
Vinny remains one of the village’s most likeable residents, which is exactly why his death would have such a powerful impact.
Reports have suggested Bradley Johnson is set to leave Emmerdale after seven years playing Vinny. That immediately makes Vinny a much stronger candidate in this mystery.
His personal life has become increasingly complicated, while his place within the Dingle family gives any possible departure real emotional weight.
If Emmerdale wanted a death that would hurt without removing one of the show’s absolute biggest names, Vinny would fit the bill.
Losing him would devastate Mandy and send shockwaves through the Dingles, especially after everything Vinny has already survived.
6. Kerry Wyatt
Kerry has quietly become one of the most intriguing names connected to the mystery.
Her involvement in the ongoing scam storyline has already caused problems, and there is every chance the fallout has only just begun.
Recent scenes have shown Caleb Miligan becoming increasingly angry over the situation. If Kerry’s actions leave people out of pocket or expose secrets others desperately want hidden, she could find herself with a growing list of enemies.
Caleb is not a man known for forgiving betrayal. If he believes Kerry has crossed him, could he decide to take revenge?
5. Jimmy King
Jimmy’s name has repeatedly appeared in clues surrounding the mystery.
The feud involving Nicola and Kerry has already raised questions about whether Jimmy could become collateral damage in a conflict that spirals beyond control.
There have also been reports linking Jimmy to a possible departure storyline following the return of Sadie King, although nothing has been confirmed.
As one of the last remaining members of the original King dynasty, Jimmy’s death would have enormous consequences for Nicola, his children and the wider village.

4. Mackenzie Boyd
Recent scenes have focused heavily on Mack’s determination to protect Charity following her ordeal at the hands of Dr Todd.
That immediately places him in a dangerous position.

A heated confrontation involving Charity and Dr Todd could quickly spiral out of control. If Mack steps in to defend his wife, he could become an unintended victim, paying the ultimate price for trying to protect the person he loves.
Equally, if Mack discovers evidence connected to the mystery or uncovers secrets somebody desperately wants buried, he could suddenly become a threat.
3. Dawn Fletcher
Dawns troubled relationship with Joe Tate remains one of the most volatile situations currently unfolding in the village.
Joe has made countless enemies, while Dawn finds herself caught between loyalty, family and growing uncertainty about her future.
If somebody targets Joe, Dawn could easily become an unintended victim.
Alternatively, she could be the direct target of somebody looking to settle old scores.

2. Joe Tate
Joe may actually have more enemies than anyone else currently living in the village.
His manipulation, lies and questionable decisions have left destruction in his wake, with numerous residents having reasons to hate him.
Billy, Dawn, Charity, Mack, Cain and several others could find themselves on a suspect list if Joe were killed. Even his own family could turn on him.
From a classic whodunnit perspective, Joe is almost the perfect victim.
His death would create a huge pool of suspects and keep viewers guessing for months.
That alone makes him one of the strongest candidates in the entire mystery.
1. Dr Todd
Based on everything we know right now, Dr Todd remains one of the most likely victims.
She has manipulated, abused and blackmailed Charity Dingle while causing devastation for those around her.
The latest spoilers suggest she leaves believing she has escaped justice. That could prove to be a dangerous mistake. Charity has suffered because of her.
Mack has watched his wife struggle because of her. Friends and family have witnessed the damage she has caused.
If somebody finally decides enough is enough, Todd could find herself facing the consequences.
There is another possibility too.
What if Todd is not the victim, but the catalyst? Could she confront Charity? Could Mack step in to protect her? Could a struggle turn deadly?
Could Mack become the victim while trying to defend Charity?
The clues released so far keep leading back to Dr Todd, making her the character we are watching most closely.
Our Strongest Theories
After looking at the clues released so far, two theories stand out above all the others.
The first involves Jimmy King.
Sadie King’s return has already sent shockwaves through the village, and it would not be the first time a King family feud ended in tragedy. Reports have suggested Jimmy could be facing a major departure storyline, while the flashforward mystery appears perfectly positioned to deliver a dramatic exit.
Could Sadie return with revenge on her mind?
Could Jimmy become the victim at the centre of the investigation? Or could old secrets from the King family finally catch up with him?
The second theory centres on Dr Todd.
Everything about the new mystery appears to lead back to her. She has made enemies throughout the village, devastated Charity’s life and left Mack furious as he tries to support his wife through the aftermath.
If Todd believes she has escaped justice, she may be underestimating the anger she has left behind.
Could somebody decide enough is enough? Could Todd become the body discovered in the flashforward scenes?

Either Sadie’s return ends in disaster for Jimmy King, or Dr Todd’s actions finally come back to haunt her.
Of course, Emmerdale loves a twist, and producers may yet have something completely unexpected planned.
What we do know is that Emmerdale has assembled a village full of secrets, grudges, revenge plots and simmering tensions.
A body is about to be discovered. A crime has been committed. And somewhere in the Dales, somebody’s life is about to come to a shocking end.
