Emmerdale Charity Makes Dramatic Murder Confession as Serena Covers Up Truth

Dr Caitlin Todd is dead, but the fallout from her dramatic death has placed Charity, Sarah and Serena at the centre of an increasingly dangerous cover up. Sarah accidentally caused Caitlin’s death after pushing her during an emotional confrontation, causing Caitlin to fall and suffer a fatal head injury.
A distraught Sarah desperately tried to revive her, but it quickly became clear Caitlin was dead. Sarah immediately feared the police would never believe it was an accident, particularly because they already knew Caitlin had raped Charity and Sarah therefore had a clear reason to be angry with her.
Sarah’s terror intensified as she considered the possibility of prison and baby Leyla growing up without her. Charity refused to accept that future for her granddaughter and became determined to protect Sarah, whatever it might ultimately cost her.
Serena then arrived and discovered what had happened. After hearing the truth, the former police officer warned that although they knew Sarah had not intended to kill Caitlin, the CPS could potentially view the circumstances very differently.
The three women constructed a story claiming Caitlin attacked Charity before Charity pushed her away in self defence. However, Charity went further and falsely took responsibility for Caitlin’s death herself, leaving Sarah horrified by her grandmother’s sacrifice.
Serena then became directly involved in strengthening their story. Wearing gloves, she used Caitlin’s hand to leave scratch marks on Charity’s arm, creating apparent evidence that Caitlin had attacked her, before leaving through the back door and insisting her involvement remain secret.
The pressure is far from over. In scenes coming up, Serena continues framing Caitlin’s death as self defence while Charity remains committed to her false confession. When DS Ramsden interrupts a conversation between them, Charity sticks firmly to her version of events.
Sarah could prove to be the biggest threat to their secret. She feels horribly conflicted about keeping Jacob in the dark about what really happened, especially when he promises not to ask any more questions about Caitlin.
Charity may believe sacrificing herself is the only way to save Sarah, but three women are now tied to the cover up. With DS Ramsden asking questions and Sarah struggling to deceive her own husband, how long can their story really survive?
