Emmerdale brings back familiar detective as Thea hides evidence

Emmerdale has brought back a familiar police officer as Thea’s attempt to help Sarah creates a fresh problem in the case against Charity.

DI Roberts, played by Isobel Middleton, has returned as Thea’s superior after Thea deliberately interfered with evidence from Charity’s police interview.

Thea discovered that the recording had not yet been transcribed and used an opportunity at work to corrupt the file using a USB stick.

When Roberts became involved, Thea claimed the recording could not be recovered.

Roberts questioned whether there would be much point interviewing Charity again, particularly when her solicitor could advise her to answer no comment.

Viewers may recognise Roberts from the 2025 investigation into the disappearance of Anthony Fox, Ruby Miligan’s abusive father. She questioned Cain as police tried to establish what had happened to him.

This time, Roberts has been pulled into a situation where one of her own officers is secretly responsible for the missing evidence. She currently has no reason to believe Thea deliberately damaged the file, but the deception adds another risk to Thea’s increasingly desperate efforts to help Sarah.

Emmerdale streams from 7am on ITVX and airs weekday evenings on ITV1. Images: ITV.
