EastEnders Ryder opens up to Nicola over secret romance

Ryder opens up to Nicola in EastEnders as he reveals more about his private life and the man he has been seeing. The conversation gives Nicola a greater insight into her nephew at a time when tensions within their family remain difficult.

Ryder has been at the centre of several problems since arriving in Walford alongside the rest of the Hawkins family. His latest scenes show a more personal side to him as he chooses Nicola as the person he can confide in.

The revelation about his romantic life comes as Ryder is also becoming increasingly concerned about Ned. Their relationship has already proved difficult, and Ryder appears uncomfortable with the influence Ned continues to have around him and the wider family.

Nicola knows better than most how complicated dealing with Ned can become. Their own history has already caused tension since the family arrived in Walford, with the pair repeatedly clashing over both personal issues and Harry’s Barn.

That makes Ryder’s decision to speak to Nicola particularly significant. Rather than keeping his concerns to himself, he begins to trust his aunt with what is happening in both his romantic life and his increasingly uneasy relationship with Ned.

The scenes could also strengthen the bond between Nicola and Ryder as she gets a clearer picture of what he is dealing with. Nicola has had plenty of conflict with her family since their arrival, but Ryder turning to her creates a different dynamic between them.

With Ned continuing to make his presence felt, Ryder’s concerns are unlikely to disappear quickly. His decision to open up could prove important as the complicated Hawkins family relationships continue unfolding in Walford.
