EastEnders Ravi and Priya engagement hits dramatic obstacle

Ravi is ready to celebrate his future with Priya in EastEnders, but their newly confirmed engagement quickly runs into trouble when Priya hesitates over telling the rest of the family. Ravi believes they should be looking ahead together, while Priya knows there is something enormous he still does not know.

After Priya finally accepts Ravi’s proposal, he wants them to make the engagement official with Avani and Nugget. For Ravi, it represents another step towards rebuilding their relationship and bringing the family together after everything they have been through.

Priya does not share his enthusiasm about making an announcement. She is reluctant to tell the children and finds herself trying to slow things down, despite Ravi being keen to embrace their new beginning.

Her hesitation has a major explanation because Priya knows she is pregnant. Ravi is planning their future without knowing that Priya is already carrying news that could completely reshape what comes next for them.

The situation becomes even more complicated because Priya is struggling to hide the physical effects of the pregnancy. Her nausea begins causing problems while she spends time with other Walford residents, forcing her to make excuses rather than reveal why she is feeling unwell.

Ravi, meanwhile, has no reason to believe their engagement is anything other than the beginning of a fresh chapter. His determination to tell Avani and Nugget therefore puts Priya under further pressure because every conversation about their future brings her closer to having to reveal the truth.

There is another issue hanging over their relationship too. During Ravi’s absence, Priya became involved with Max, and although that connection is no longer straightforward, it remains a secret capable of causing serious problems if Ravi begins asking questions.

For Priya, the engagement should represent certainty after a turbulent period, but instead she finds herself surrounded by unanswered questions. She has accepted Ravi’s proposal while simultaneously keeping one of the biggest possible developments from him.

Ravi is determined to move forward, and his enthusiasm makes Priya’s position increasingly difficult. She now has to decide how long she can continue allowing him to make plans without knowing about the pregnancy.

With marriage, a baby and Priya’s history with Max all sitting beneath the surface, Ravi and Priya’s fresh start is already looking far more complicated than either of them expected.
