EastEnders Phil Mitchell reaches out as Denise loses hope
EastEnders sees Phil support Denise as cancer treatment takes its toll, helping with Raymond and urging her to tell Jack how much she is struggling to cope
Coming up in EastEnders, Phil reaches out to Denise as she struggles with the exhausting reality of cancer treatment. Having already helped with Raymond, he encourages her to tell Jack just how difficult things have become.
Denise is still waiting for a suitable stem cell donor, and the uncertainty is becoming harder to bear. As treatment continues taking its toll, she confides in Kim and Chelsea about how much she is struggling, leaving both worried about her wellbeing.
Phil has been offering practical support throughout her illness, helping with Raymond while Denise concentrates on her health. When they sit down together, he gives her the opportunity to talk about how she is feeling and suggests being more open with Jack.

However, their conversation brings Denise’s doubts into focus. She begins questioning whether she has the strength to continue treatment, even as those around her desperately hope that a donor will be found.
Jack wants to help, but Denise is reluctant to add to her family’s distress. Determined to deal with her illness on her own terms, she starts keeping her feelings to herself, making it harder for those closest to her to understand what she needs.
That distance also troubles Amy, who accuses Denise of shutting everyone out. With concerns about a potential donor adding further tension at home, Denise finds herself struggling with difficult family conversations alongside the demands of treatment.
Later scenes bring another frightening development when Denise collapses in the Square. Ash is nearby and immediately goes to help as the family’s concerns about Denise’s condition deepen.
EastEnders airs on BBC One and is available to stream on BBC iPlayer.
