EastEnders Nicola Mitchell rejects Ned’s £25,000 lifeline

Nicola faces losing Harry’s Barn in upcoming EastEnders scenes, but an offer to save the business brings little comfort. When Ned tells her he has secured the money she needs, she refuses his help and wants his involvement kept quiet.

The crisis begins when Nicola learns that the bar needs £25,000 to avoid closure. With a new baby and the return of her family occupying her attention, she has not realised how serious the business’s financial problems have become.

Gemma tries to help by arranging for Nugget’s birthday party to take place at the venue. She hopes the celebration will bring customers through the doors and encourage more people to visit, but Nicola’s situation becomes increasingly urgent when bailiffs arrive.

The family then organises a fundraiser, only for confusion about the causes being supported to undermine their efforts. Some residents suspect they are simply being asked to put money into Nicola’s pocket, and the event fails to raise the amount required.

Meanwhile, Ned takes Harry to visit an old business partner and applies pressure to get what he wants. He later approaches Nicola with news that he has found enough money to keep the bar open.

Rather than welcoming the offer, Nicola is offended that Ned has made it. She tells Harry she does not want the rest of the family knowing that his uncle has offered financial help, keeping the conversation between them.

Her reaction brings their uncomfortable shared history into focus, although the details remain unrevealed. Ned persists with his offer as Nicola continues facing the prospect of losing her livelihood.

EastEnders airs on BBC One and is available to stream on BBC iPlayer.
