EastEnders fans suspect Zoe’s death could hold a clue to Max’s arrest

EastEnders fans are questioning whether Zoe Slater’s death could hold a clue to Max Branning’s arrest, as Kat Slater prepares to hunt down the man she believes abandoned her daughter in her final moments.

Zoe tragically died last month after hitting her head. Subsequent scenes revealed that someone had been with her shortly before she died, and viewers know that person was Max. Kat, however, remains unaware of his involvement.

Consumed by grief, Kat pushed her loved ones away, including Alfie Moon, bringing their marriage to an end. But after heading into the forest and reaching out to her former husband, she apologised and asked him to help find the man she believes left Zoe to die.

The pair are now united in their quest for justice, but their investigation could bring Kat closer to a truth she is not prepared for.

EastEnders fans fear Kat could be linked to the New Year mystery

The latest episode has prompted fresh discussion online, where viewers debated whether Kat’s revenge mission could connect to the New Year’s Day flash-forward.

One commenter, warned: “If Kat has anything to do with the gunman on NYD…….” before adding that they already disliked how Kat’s grief was being made about Max.

Another viewer, suggested the storyline could be setting Kat up for a revenge plot, writing that the audience was being led to think she had “something to do with January 1st in a you took one of mine so I’ll take one of your kids deal”.

However, the same commenter hoped the theory would prove to be a red herring, arguing that such a development would damage Kat’s character.

The debate highlights how divided viewers are over the possibility of Kat becoming involved in the flash-forward.

Some believe her anger could lead her to take drastic action, while others think the suggestion is deliberately misleading.

Could Max’s arrest be connected to Zoe’s death?

The New Year flash-forward showed Max being arrested by armed police for solicitation to murder leaving viewers wondering what could lead to such a dramatic development.

His involvement in Zoe’s final hours has given fans a possible explanation to explore, although EastEnders has not confirmed that the two storylines are connected.

Online another commenter questioned the evidence behind Kat’s determination to find someone who supposedly watched Zoe die.

“Another point - Zoe on the 999 call said something like, ‘He left me’,” they wrote.

A separate viewer, was more direct in their criticism, arguing that the distinction between someone leaving Zoe and watching her die was being overlooked.

Kat and Alfie’s search takes a new turn

In Monday’s upcoming episode, Kat and Alfie track down the former owner of Charlie’s cab, who Zoe clashed with shortly before her death.

The man tells them that he has been cleared by police, dealing Kat another setback. However, she refuses to abandon her search for answers.

Meanwhile, Jasmine Fisher grows suspicious of Kat’s behaviour and questions Alfie about what she is planning.

With Kat determined to get justice, the investigation could put her on a collision course with Max if she discovers his involvement in Zoe’s final hours.
