EastEnders Cindy Beale finds Priya’s paternity test and orders her to leave

Priya’s journey home from a baby scan takes on a very different significance in upcoming EastEnders scenes. While she and Ravi discuss sharing their news with Nugget and Avani, someone nearby is paying close attention.

The pair are travelling on the tube when their conversation reaches Cindy, who is on the same service. Neither Priya nor Ravi realises she has been listening, leaving them unaware that their discussion has aroused her suspicions.

For Priya and Ravi, the conversation concerns telling the children about the baby. For Cindy, what she hears becomes a reason to investigate further, taking an ordinary journey into territory Priya has not prepared for.

Cindy does not leave her suspicions at the tube doors. Instead, she makes finding the paternity test her priority, determined to establish what it reveals about the pregnancy.

Her search proves successful, and the result gives her access to information Priya has kept private. Once Cindy reads the test and learns the truth, she decides to confront Priya with an ultimatum.

Cindy orders her to leave Walford or face exposure. The discovery therefore comes with an immediate demand, putting Priya under pressure to consider her future while the threat of disclosure hangs over her.

It is a sharp turn from the conversation after the scan, when the question was how to tell Nugget and Avani about the baby. Now Priya has to deal with someone outside that discussion who knows what the paternity test says and is prepared to use it against her.

The demand also puts Cindy in control of information that could reach other people. Priya is no longer dealing only with what she chooses to share, because Cindy has made clear that she is willing to reveal the truth herself.

There is no gentle approach to Cindy’s confrontation. She links keeping the information private directly to Priya’s departure, leaving her facing the prospect of either going or having the result exposed.
