EastEnders Amy Mitchell chooses Craig over Denzel in disturbing development
Amy grows closer to Craig in EastEnders and chooses him over Denzel as the soap's disturbing grooming storyline develops further.
Amy's growing trust in Craig takes another worrying turn in upcoming EastEnders scenes as she begins opening up to him about deeply personal parts of her life. While Amy increasingly believes she has found somebody she can depend on, viewers know there is much more to Craig's behaviour.
Craig previously gained Amy's confidence after agreeing to keep her confession over the attack on Joel from the police. Their connection now develops further as Amy continues spending time with him and their conversations become increasingly personal.
Denzel attempts to support Amy and encourages her to speak to Craig, unaware of where their growing bond will eventually lead. When Craig sees Amy's self-harm scars, she runs away, but the uncomfortable encounter does not prevent him from finding another way back into her life.
Amy later opens up to Craig about losing her mum, Roxy. The conversation gives Craig another opportunity to position himself as somebody Amy can trust at a time when she is particularly vulnerable.
The situation ultimately leaves Denzel pushed aside. Despite their history together, Amy chooses Craig over her ex-boyfriend as her reliance on the police officer continues to deepen.
EastEnders has confirmed that Craig will manipulate and groom Amy over a period of months in a storyline developed with Barnardo's and End Violence Against Women. Amy does not yet understand the danger surrounding their relationship, making her decision to place even greater trust in Craig particularly concerning.
