EastEnders Alfie gets huge surprise as old friend Ned arrives

Alfie receives an unexpected blast from the past in EastEnders when Nicola’s family arrives in Albert Square and he immediately recognises newcomer Ned as an old friend.

Ned arrives alongside his wife Jodie, as well as Gemma, Rose and Ryder, as a large group of Nicola’s relatives suddenly descends on Walford. Nicola is furious to see them, but Alfie’s reaction is very different when he spots a familiar face among the newcomers.

Alfie quickly realises he already knows Ned, creating an unexpected connection between the new arrival and one of Walford’s longest-standing residents. The discovery gives Ned an immediate link outside Nicola’s family and suggests there is some history between the two men.

Exactly what Alfie and Ned previously shared is not immediately clear, but their reunion adds another interesting element to the family’s arrival. While Nicola is dealing with the shock of having so many relatives suddenly appear, Alfie is left surprised to find someone from his own past walking into Albert Square.

Ned is Nicola’s brother-in-law and arrives with Jodie and their son Ryder. His connection to Alfie means his introduction is not simply about joining Nicola’s wider family story, as he already has an established relationship waiting for him in Walford.

The timing of the reunion also comes as Nicola is clearly unhappy about the family turning up. With tensions already present between Nicola and her relatives, Alfie’s friendship with Ned could give him a very different view of the newcomers.

The family’s arrival is set to cause immediate disruption, particularly with Nicola making no attempt to hide her anger. Ned recognising an old friend in Alfie, however, means at least one of the newcomers has someone familiar waiting for him.

As Nicola questions why her relatives have suddenly come to Albert Square, Alfie’s unexpected reunion with Ned gives the newcomers another connection to Walford and opens up a piece of history viewers have yet to discover.
