Coronation Street Viewers Praise Christina as Rachel Story Reveals Another Side to Her
Coronation Street viewers praise Amy Robbins as Christina’s emotional storyline involving Rachel and Lucy reveals a different side to her character.
Coronation Street viewers have praised Amy Robbins for her portrayal of Christina as the storyline surrounding her late daughter Rachel continues to reveal a more vulnerable side to the character.
Christina’s grief, her growing connection with granddaughter Lucy and her determination to discover what happened to Rachel have given viewers a different perspective on a woman previously known for causing difficulties in Daisy and Jenny’s lives.
Christina Makes a Disturbing Discovery
Friday’s episode brought another difficult moment when Christina encountered Lucy watching old family videos and discovered footage that appeared to show Richie behaving abusively towards Rachel.

The recording raised further questions about his account of Rachel’s death, while Christina’s connection to Lucy also came into the open, forcing both women to confront a family history they had never shared.
For Christina, the discovery was particularly painful because Rachel died before they had the opportunity to build a relationship following her adoption.
Viewers Praise Amy Robbins
The emotional storyline has prompted positive comments about both the writing and Robbins’ performance, with viewers welcoming the opportunity to see Christina dealing with something more personal than her previous disagreements in Weatherfield.

One viewer wrote: “The writing for Christina has been human and nuanced and Amy Robbins has been marvellous.”
Another agreed that the storyline had brought welcome depth to the programme: “It’s nice to know that Corrie is still capable of this sort of nuance on occasion.”
A third suggested that the developments had significantly altered Christina’s portrayal:
“By doing this storyline, they completely rework Christina’s character and show her in a different light”
The responses reflect appreciation for a character whose earlier appearances often focused on her difficult relationships with Daisy and Jenny, rather than the grief and regret now shaping her decisions.
What Happens to Christina and Lucy?
Christina’s connection to Lucy offers an opportunity to explore whether they can build a relationship despite the years of family history separating them.

There are also unanswered questions surrounding Rachel’s death, particularly whether the footage Christina discovered will help establish what happened.
For viewers who have welcomed the change in Christina, the storyline has demonstrated how much more there is to explore beyond her previous role in Weatherfield.
Coronation Street airs on ITV1 and streams on ITVX.
