Dear Professor has become one of the quickest risers among AI GL series on YouTube, and its premise sets up the tension at its heart from the start.
The series follows Nongnong, who falls for Professor Shu, a chemistry professor seven years older than her. What begins as admiration turns into an attraction that becomes harder and harder to hide, and the story is built around longing, jealousy and the risk of crossing a line.
On YouTube it is released by HerHub TV, which describes itself as an independent creative team making original AI-generated GL dramas and says it is the only authorised channel for the series.
The story arrives in parts, with Part 17, titled Trouble, released on 8 October. The series is subtitled in several languages, and HerHub TV also keeps a full, uncut playlist. In late September the channel shared a short making-of video to mark one month on Patreon.
Viewers have responded quickly. HerHub TV's subscriber count grew by around 80 per cent over 30 days in September, taking it past 15,000, and one Dear Professor upload has drawn more than 430,000 views.
With new parts still arriving, viewers will be watching to see how long the line between Nongnong and Professor Shu can hold.
