Dallas Pride returns to the heart of the city’s LGBTQ+ neighbourhood TODAY

Dallas Pride is returning to the heart of the city’s LGBTQ+ neighbourhood today, Sunday 20 September, as Cedar Springs Road becomes the centre of a major community celebration.

The Pride in Dallas parade gets underway at 2pm local time, following a pre-show and line-up beginning at noon.

This year’s theme is Pride Lives Here, with the location itself forming an important part of the celebration.

Cedar Springs sits within Oak Lawn and has long been closely associated with LGBTQ+ life in Dallas, with bars, businesses, organisations and community spaces helping the area develop its distinctive identity.

Rather than moving Pride away to a separate festival site, today’s parade travels directly through that neighbourhood.

The free event brings community groups, local organisations, businesses and residents together along the route, while spectators can watch without needing to buy a ticket.

Today’s event also marks the fifth anniversary of the current Pride in Dallas parade.

The 2026 celebration honours Michael Doughman, who had a long history of involvement in LGBTQ+ life in the city and worked with organisations and venues including The Dallas Way, the Dallas Tavern Guild and Round-Up Saloon and Dance Hall.

The parade brings a wider week of Pride events across Dallas to a close. It also offers a reminder that major Pride celebrations are no longer confined to June.

Cities around the world now hold events throughout the year, often building them around local history and their own established LGBTQ+ neighbourhoods.

For Dallas, that means bringing Pride directly back to Cedar Springs and the community at the heart of it.
