When Coronation Street's latest Speed Daal storyline reaches its climax, most viewers will naturally expect Nick or Toyah to be the people trying to save Leanne. However, there is another character quietly positioned to make a much bigger difference. Alya has always been fiercely protective of the restaurant, and her legal knowledge could make her the first person to spot exactly what Idris is trying to achieve.

Nick and Toyah's concerns about Idris are understandable, but they face an immediate problem. Their complicated history with Leanne means every warning they give risks being dismissed as interference rather than genuine concern. After everything the three of them have been through, Leanne could easily believe they are trying to influence another major decision in her life instead of respecting her judgement.

Alya approaches the situation from a completely different perspective because she has no emotional agenda. She is focused on the future of Speed Daal and understands that business deals should be examined carefully before anyone signs on the dotted line. Rather than relying on instinct alone, Alya is more likely to question the details behind Idris' offer and ask why events are unfolding in such a convenient way for him.

Those questions become even more important when a genuine buyer is frightened away before Idris steps forward with his own proposal. From Leanne's point of view, it may simply look like bad luck followed by an unexpected opportunity. Alya, however, may see a pattern developing and begin asking whether Idris is benefiting from circumstances that seem far too convenient.

It would also be entirely in keeping with Alya's character. Throughout her time on Coronation Street, she has repeatedly stepped up when Speed Daal has faced difficult moments, helping to steer the business through financial uncertainty, family disagreements and some of the biggest challenges in its history. She understands better than almost anyone what the restaurant means to her family and why protecting it matters.

That experience could make her one of the few people able to separate emotion from evidence. While Nick and Toyah are understandably driven by fear for Leanne, Alya has the ability to examine the situation objectively and challenge Idris on the facts. If there is something suspicious about his interest in Speed Daal, she is perhaps the most likely person to uncover it.

The storyline could also give Alya a welcome opportunity to move back into the spotlight. Although she has often played a key role in the restaurant's history, recent events have largely centred on Leanne, Nick and Toyah. If Idris is hiding more than he is revealing, Alya could become the unexpected hero by exposing the truth before a deal is completed.

Whether Idris is genuinely manipulating events remains to be seen, and Coronation Street is keeping his motives deliberately under wraps. Even so, Alya's instincts, experience and legal background leave her perfectly placed to ask the questions that everyone else may have overlooked, and those answers could ultimately determine the future of Speed Daal.
