Tim Metcalfe's world is turned upside down in upcoming Coronation Street scenes as he is forced to make one of the biggest decisions of his life following the arrest of his cousin Richie.

Having only recently reconnected with Richie after years apart, Tim hopes the pair can rebuild their relationship. However, events take a devastating turn when Richie turns up at No.4 after being thrown out by his wife Rachel, insisting he has nowhere else to go.

Although Sally is far from convinced, she reluctantly agrees to let Richie stay for one night. Tim believes his cousin deserves another chance and encourages him to return home the following morning to repair his marriage.

Instead, everything falls apart.

When Tim later visits Richie's house to return a wallet, he is met by a horrifying sight. Richie answers the door covered in blood and looking completely dazed, leaving Tim stunned as he tries to make sense of what has happened.

Before long, DS Lisa Connor Swain arrives with devastating news. Richie has been charged with Rachel's murder, while his teenage daughter Lucy has been taken into emergency care following the tragedy.

The update leaves Tim and Sally struggling to process the enormity of the situation. Lisa carefully explains what has happened and the couple soon realise Lucy has suddenly been left without anyone to care for her.

Despite the emotional shock they are already dealing with, social services ask whether Tim and Sally could provide Lucy with a foster home. It is an enormous responsibility, but Tim cannot ignore the fact that Lucy is an innocent victim caught in the middle of unimaginable circumstances.

The decision is not an easy one, particularly with Sally unsure about bringing a deeply traumatised teenager into their home. Even so, Tim is determined to do what he believes is right, knowing Lucy needs stability more than ever.

Taking Lucy in proves to be far from straightforward. Traumatised by the events surrounding her parents, she struggles to settle and begins suffering nightmares, while the emotional strain starts affecting everyone under the Metcalfe roof.

As Tim tries to support Lucy through the darkest period of her life, he also has to come to terms with the fact that someone from his own family now stands accused of murder. It is a burden he never imagined carrying, and one that threatens to test his family like never before.
