Coronation Street’s Jodie wins David over after helping Harry
Coronation Street’s Jodie steps in when Harry is bullied, helping her regain David’s trust despite the gun discovery and Sarah’s warning.
Jodie manages to improve her position with David in Coronation Street after stepping in when Harry is targeted by a group of boys. Her intervention comes at a crucial point, with the Platts already questioning whether she can be trusted.
Sarah has warned David that Jodie poses a danger to the family and has also accused her of carrying out the attack at number 8. The discovery of a gun inside Jodie’s trinket box creates further concern, although Jodie insists that the weapon is fake.
Lily later sees Jodie with Harry at the precinct, where the youngster is being bullied. Jodie confronts the boys and sends them away, leaving Lily impressed by the way she protects Harry.
When Lily tells David what happened, he begins to soften towards Jodie. Her actions suggest that she is capable of looking out for the children, giving David a reason to reconsider his earlier doubts.
The moment works strongly in Jodie’s favour because the family is still divided over Sarah’s accusations. David wants to believe that his sister-in-law may deserve another chance, while Jodie continues presenting herself as someone who can support the family.
However, David does not know the full truth about the gun or Jodie’s other secretive behaviour. She has already lied about where the weapon came from and later begins another scheme involving a false parenting forum account.
Jodie’s apparent act of protection may help her rebuild trust, but it does not answer the questions surrounding the trinket box. David could soon be forced to decide whether her support for Harry outweighs the growing evidence that she is still hiding dangerous secrets.
