Coronation Street's David and Shona face heartbreak as Jodie ruins Harper's homecoming

For David Platt and Shona Platt, Harper's long-awaited return home should have marked the end of one of the most emotional chapters of their lives. After months of uncertainty, the family are finally preparing to welcome the youngster back, with loved ones gathering to celebrate the special occasion.

However, while the Platts try to focus on Harper's homecoming, the shadow of Sarah's arrest continues to hang heavily over the family. With emotions already running high, an unexpected visitor soon threatens to turn a joyful day into yet another crisis.

Jodie arrives at No.8 hoping David and Shona will allow her to stay with them, leaving the couple completely stunned. Given everything that has happened between Jodie and the family, her request immediately places David and Shona in an impossible position.

Although Harper's return should be the family's only priority, they are suddenly forced to consider whether they can help someone whose recent actions have already caused so much upheaval. The difficult conversation leaves everyone questioning what the right decision really is.

As David and Shona weigh up their options, the situation becomes even more complicated when Lily unknowingly stumbles across a gun, in Jodies trinket box that Jodie has been trying to keep out of sight.

The discovery immediately raises fresh questions about what else Jodie has been doing, and why she has the gun in the first place. Before long, David also becomes aware of what has happened, leaving him with even more concerns at a time when the family are already under enormous pressure.

Jodie insists there is an explanation, claiming the weapon is fake and attempting to reassure those around her. Whether David believes her is another matter entirely, especially with recent events making it increasingly difficult to know who can be trusted.

David finds himself pulled in several different directions as he tries to protect his family while also deciding how to deal with Jodie's unexpected request. Shona is equally torn, wanting Harper's homecoming to remain a happy occasion while recognising that Jodie's arrival cannot simply be ignored.

As the week unfolds, the consequences of Jodie's arrival continue to spread beyond the walls of No.8. Lily's discovery, David's growing suspicions and Sarah's ongoing legal troubles combine to create fresh tensions for the Platts, ensuring Harper's homecoming is remembered for far more than the family's celebration.

With emotions running high and trust becoming increasingly fragile, David and Shona face some difficult decisions as they attempt to keep their family together while another unexpected crisis unfolds around them.
