Coronation Street Todd Risks Losing Everyone as Painful Year Takes Its Toll
Todd’s drinking and anger begin pushing away the people closest to him as Glenda’s painful warning threatens to become a reality in Coronation Street.
Todd Grimshaw could be heading towards an emotional breaking point in Coronation Street as his drinking, anger and determination to avoid confronting the past begin creating problems with the people closest to him.
Since returning from Thailand, Todd has been keen to keep going out and enjoying himself, but his behaviour increasingly suggests there is more happening beneath the surface. Rather than simply celebrating being back in Weatherfield, Todd appears to be using nights out and alcohol to distract himself from the difficult experiences he has faced over the past year.
Those around him gradually begin to notice the change. After another drinking session with Christina, Todd speaks with Mary and Glenda about how much he has been boozing, prompting Glenda to confront him with a warning that he finds particularly difficult to hear.
Glenda tells Todd that if he continues behaving the way he has been, he could eventually find himself with no friends left. It is a harsh message, but her concern appears to come from seeing somebody she cares about heading down a path that could damage the relationships around him.
Todd reacts very differently. Rather than accepting that Glenda may be worried about him, he feels humiliated by her comments and becomes furious, allowing the confrontation to create an immediate divide between them.
