Coronation Street Todd Grimshaw Plots Revenge on Glenda

Todd Grimshaw is set to take his bitter fallout with Glenda Shuttleworth a step further in Coronation Street when he spots an opportunity to get his own back on his friend. Their relationship is already under serious strain following Glenda’s attempt to confront Todd over his behaviour, but Fraser’s arrival gives Todd an unexpected opening for revenge.

Todd has returned from Thailand determined to keep the holiday atmosphere going, with his drinking becoming increasingly noticeable to the people around him. After another night out on Canal Street with Christina, Todd tells Mary and Glenda just how much alcohol he has been getting through, prompting Glenda to make her concerns clear.

Glenda warns Todd that if he continues treating the people around him badly, he could eventually find himself without any friends. Her words are intended as a wake-up call, but Todd sees the intervention very differently and is left furious that Glenda has spoken to him in such blunt terms.

Feeling humiliated and angry, Todd takes Glenda’s warning personally rather than accepting that she is concerned about him. That resentment is still simmering when Fraser unexpectedly becomes caught up in the tension between the two friends.

Glenda has already taken a shine to Fraser after meeting him and is delighted when she gets his number and arranges a date. She believes there could be some romantic potential between them, but Todd later discovers that Fraser is gay and therefore knows Glenda has misunderstood the situation.

Under normal circumstances, Todd could simply tell Glenda what he has learned and spare her an awkward misunderstanding. Instead, still smarting from their argument, he realises that the situation could provide him with the perfect opportunity to get his own back.

Todd begins forming a devious plan, although exactly what he intends to do remains to be seen. What is clear is that his anger towards Glenda is now influencing his judgement, with somebody who has been trying to look out for him suddenly becoming the target of his retaliation.

The development adds another uncomfortable layer to Todd’s recent behaviour because Glenda’s original intervention came from a place of concern. She has watched his drinking increase and has been prepared to say something when Todd may not have wanted to hear it, only for her honesty to leave their friendship in an increasingly difficult position.

Fraser, meanwhile, appears to have walked into the middle of the situation without intending to cause problems for either of them. Glenda’s misunderstanding could have been relatively harmless, but Todd’s decision to use what he knows as an opportunity for revenge threatens to turn it into something considerably more personal.
