Tim reveals Richie pressured him to tell police Rachel was abusive in Coronation Street, as fears grow over his influence on Lucy.
Tim makes a disturbing admission in Coronation Street when he tells Lisa just how much pressure Richie previously put on him over Rachel.
Coming up this week Tim explains that Richie tried to persuade him to tell police that Rachel had been abusive towards him. The revelation adds another layer to the investigation surrounding Rachel’s death and Richie’s behaviour before he was charged.
Tim refused to simply accept what Richie wanted him to say. However, the experience has clearly stayed with him and now affects the way he looks at what is happening with Lucy.
His biggest fear is that Richie could be putting similar pressure on his daughter. Tim tells Lisa that he is worried Lucy may also be being influenced by Richie, particularly as her recent behaviour has continued causing concern at home.
What Tim does not realise is that Lucy is nearby and overhears the conversation. She therefore learns exactly what he thinks about Richie and the possibility that she is being manipulated.
That could make an already difficult situation even more complicated. Lucy has been trying to settle into life with Tim and Sally, but the latest conversation makes clear that the adults around her still have serious concerns about Richie’s influence.
Tim’s confession also raises another question about what Richie wanted police to believe about Rachel. With the investigation still hanging over the family, the pressure he placed on Tim may now take on new significance.
