Coronation Street Sam Blakeman’s £6,000 debt shocks Nick

Sam’s secret spending leaves Nick facing an alarming financial problem in upcoming Coronation Street scenes. Breaking down in front of his family, Sam admits that he has used his dad’s identity and accumulated more than £6,000 in debt.

Concern begins when Hope tells Nick and Toyah that Sam has been behaving out of character. They try to encourage him to explain what is happening, but he initially keeps his money troubles to himself.

The truth eventually comes out in the Bistro office. With Nick, Toyah and Leanne present, Sam admits that he has been trading cryptocurrency, a form of digital money, while pretending to be his dad.

His deception also involves taking out a credit card in Nick’s name. The borrowing has left a debt of more than £6,000, turning his hidden activities into a serious problem for the family.

Nick, Toyah and Leanne are stunned by the admission. Alongside the amount involved, they have to take in the fact that Sam has been using an identity that is not his own.

Nick’s immediate concern is how he will find the money to clear the debt. Sam’s confession has finally explained his behaviour, but it has also revealed a cost Nick is worried about meeting.

The conversation attracts attention beyond those directly involved. Nearby, Idris listens as Nick discusses the financial difficulty.

His interest adds an uncomfortable audience to an already distressing family moment. While Nick concentrates on the money Sam owes, Idris is paying close attention to what he hears.

Coronation Street continues on ITV1. Episodes are also available on ITVX.
