Coronation Street Not On Tuesday 25 August: Reason Revealed
Coronation Street will not air this coming Tuesday, 25th August, as live Carabao Cup football takes over ITV. Here’s what viewers need to know.
Coronation Street viewers will have a night away from Weatherfield this coming Tuesday, 25th August, with no episode airing in its usual ITV slot. The schedule change is due to live Carabao Cup football taking over the channel for the evening.
Nottingham Forest host Leeds United in an all Premier League second round tie at the City Ground, with ITV’s coverage beginning at 7.30pm ahead of an 8pm kick off. Mark Pougatch will present the action, with commentary from Sam Matterface and Lucy Ward and reports from Gabriel Clarke.
Why is Coronation Street not on Tuesday?
The football runs directly across the time normally occupied by ITV’s soaps, meaning both Emmerdale and Coronation Street are absent from Tuesday night’s schedule. There could also be further disruption later in the evening if the match goes to penalties, with the listings warning that subsequent programmes may run late or change.
For Corrie fans, however, it is only a brief interruption. Weatherfield’s ongoing storylines will continue after the football break, with plenty already developing before Tuesday arrives.
What happens before and after the break?
Sarah remains behind bars as her increasingly worrying situation involving Kacey continues, while Bethany tries to reassure her about Harry. Sarah’s concerns are set to grow further as it becomes clear Kacey knows more about her family than she would like.
Ollie also has trouble heading his way, while his rivalry with Ben continues to cause tension. Tim and Sally are facing difficulties of their own, ensuring there will be several storylines waiting to resume once viewers return to the cobbles.
After the interruption, Sarah’s fears escalate when Kacey reveals she knows Harry’s name. Bethany also makes an alarming discovery when she finds blood on one of Kit’s T shirts, while Ollie’s problems ultimately lead to police involvement.
Tuesday may be a Corrie free night, but the Weatherfield drama is only being paused rather than disappearing. The storylines quickly pick back up once the football is out of the way.
