Coronation Street Marco theory - Can Summer really trust him?
Marco steals one of Summer’s drawings before asking her out, leaving viewers with an immediate question about whether the newcomer can really be trusted.
Summer could be heading towards a new romance with Marco, but Coronation Street is giving the newcomer a particularly unusual introduction.
The pair meet at Roy’s when Marco compliments Summer on her artwork. Things initially appear friendly, until Summer leaves her notebook unattended and Marco secretly tears out one of her drawings before disappearing.
Summer later discovers exactly where it went. Passing the tattoo parlour, she spots her own artwork displayed in the window and immediately confronts Marco about taking it without permission.
Marco explains that he wanted an excuse to see Summer again. He also offers to buy the design and asks whether she would meet him for a drink.
The explanation clearly establishes his romantic interest, but taking Summer’s artwork without asking creates an unusual starting point for any potential relationship.
There is currently nothing confirming Marco has sinister motives. His actions may simply be intended to show somebody taking an awkward and badly judged route towards asking Summer out.
However, Summer has already experienced plenty of difficult relationships and loss. That means viewers may understandably be watching Marco closely before deciding whether he deserves a chance with her.
Summer now has to decide whether his explanation is enough to forgive the way he went about getting her attention. Marco clearly wants to see her again, but first impressions are going to be difficult for him to undo.
Coronation Street continues on ITV1 and ITVX. Upcoming episodes will reveal what happens next.
