Coronation Street Lauren Makes Dramatic Idris Discovery at Speed Daal
Lauren overhears Idris giving Ollie secret instructions before his rigged Speed Daal poker game. Could what she discovers cause more trouble?
Lauren Bolton is set to discover more than Idris Sharma may realise in Coronation Street when she overhears secret instructions connected to his increasingly risky poker scheme at Speed Daal. While Idris believes he has carefully arranged a way of raising the money he needs, Lauren is now one of several people who could know that the night is not quite what it appears.
Idris is desperate to secure Alya Nazir’s share of Speed Daal after she tells him she wants £50,000. Finding himself £15,000 short, he turns to Ollie after discovering that he has experience playing poker and begins putting together an unconventional plan to raise the remaining cash.
The arrangement involves Idris providing Ollie with money to play in a private poker game at Speed Daal, with Ollie receiving a cut of the winnings. More importantly, Idris intends the game to be manipulated in Ollie’s favour rather than leaving the outcome entirely to chance.
Brody Michaelis and Lauren are brought in to help prepare Speed Daal ahead of the game. It is during those preparations that Lauren overhears Idris giving Ollie instructions, meaning the supposedly secret arrangement is already becoming less private before the first cards have even been dealt.
The information released for the upcoming scenes does not suggest Lauren immediately exposes what she has heard. However, her discovery adds another complication for Idris, particularly when his entire plan depends on those around him believing they are taking part in an ordinary poker game.
There is plenty at stake for Idris beyond his hopes of buying into Speed Daal. He has used £5,000 borrowed from Leanne Battersby to help fund the plan, while Leanne remains unaware of what he intends to do with her money.
Kit Green and Fiona Middleton are among those who later join the game, with Ollie eventually finding himself facing Fiona as his final opponent. Ollie wins, apparently delivering exactly the result Idris wanted and seemingly bringing the risky scheme to a successful conclusion.
Unfortunately for Idris, events away from the cards are already threatening to undo his carefully arranged night. Brody has been secretly drinking and, after Idris confronts him about it, Brody retaliates by telling Leanne about the poker plot.
That revelation leaves Leanne furious, particularly when she discovers Idris used money she lent him without telling her what it was really for. Idris insists that her £5,000 was never genuinely at risk because the game had been fixed in his favour, but his explanation does little to soften her reaction.
Lauren’s discovery could therefore prove significant even though Brody is the person who initially exposes Idris. She has heard enough to know something unusual was happening between Idris and Ollie, potentially leaving Idris with another person who knows more about the poker night than he would have wanted.
For now, there is no confirmation that Lauren will use what she overheard against Idris or become further involved in the fallout. What is clear is that Idris’ supposedly controlled plan has left secrets scattered across Speed Daal, and Lauren has unexpectedly found herself holding one of them.
