Coronation Street Kit Struggles With Harry in Dramatic Sarah Fallout

Kit Green’s relationship with Harry Platt is set to come under fresh pressure in Coronation Street as Sarah’s imprisonment leaves the police officer struggling to provide the stability her young son desperately needs. While Kit is dealing with Sarah’s increasingly frightening problems behind bars, events at home make clear that Harry is finding his mum’s absence increasingly difficult too.

Kit has tried to remain part of Harry’s life despite his relationship with Sarah coming to an end, but suddenly taking on greater responsibility for the youngster is proving far from straightforward. Sarah cannot simply return home when something goes wrong, leaving Kit and the other adults around Harry having to deal with situations she would normally have handled herself.

Harry’s behaviour begins to cause problems when he misbehaves at the Little Big Shotz holiday club. Glenda struggles to get hold of Kit, and Adam eventually has to step in and collect the youngster, setting up an uncomfortable confrontation when Kit finally arrives.

Adam makes his concerns clear and tells Kit that Harry needs stability. The exchange leaves Kit facing some difficult questions about whether he is currently able to provide the consistency Harry needs while also managing his police career and Sarah’s problems inside prison.

The situation appears to hit Kit hard, with the upcoming scenes showing that he feels he has let Harry down. His connection to Sarah may have brought him naturally into the youngster’s life, but becoming a dependable father figure is a much bigger responsibility than simply helping out when circumstances demand it.

Adam therefore suggests another possible arrangement, proposing that Harry stays with him for the rest of the holidays. His offer could give Harry a more settled base while Sarah remains behind bars, although it also forces Kit to consider whether stepping back might actually be better for the youngster at this particular moment.

There is no suggestion that Kit does not care about Harry. In fact, his guilt appears to come from knowing that he wants to be there for him but is struggling to balance everything happening around Sarah’s family.

That gives the storyline a different emotional angle from Kit’s involvement in Sarah’s prison crisis. Inside, Sarah desperately wants his help with Kacey’s demands, while outside, Harry needs something completely different from him: time, consistency and the reassurance of having an adult he can rely on.

Kit cannot easily solve either problem. His position as a police officer prevents him from simply becoming involved in the case concerning Kacey’s son, while Harry’s difficulties cannot be fixed by a single conversation or practical favour.

Adam’s intervention could therefore prove significant because it forces Kit to look at Harry’s situation from the youngster’s point of view. Whatever the complicated history between the adults, Harry has suddenly found himself without Sarah at home and is showing signs that the upheaval is affecting him.

The question for Kit is not simply whether he wants to remain involved, but what kind of role he can realistically provide while Sarah remains imprisoned. If Harry does stay with Adam, Kit could still be an important figure in his life without carrying the full responsibility for providing the stability Adam believes he currently needs.

With Sarah unable to be there herself, Coronation Street is placing Harry’s welfare firmly at the centre of the fallout from her imprisonment. For Kit, that means confronting a very personal challenge as he tries to work out whether being there for Harry means holding on tighter or accepting that somebody else may currently be better placed to give him the security he needs.
