Coronation Street Kit prepares for first chemotherapy

Kit prepares for his first chemotherapy session in Coronation Street as his family rallies around him following his stage three breast cancer diagnosis. After initially struggling to share what he was facing, Kit can no longer keep treatment separate from the rest of his life.

Doctors confirmed that Kit’s breast cancer had spread to his lymph nodes, leaving him facing treatment while attempting to continue working. He initially kept the diagnosis from much of his family, even as those closest to him began to realise that something was wrong.

Bernie is now by her son’s side as chemotherapy approaches. She spends time reminiscing about Kit’s childhood, giving them an opportunity to look back on his younger years before he faces the next part of his treatment.

Brody also visits Kit, bringing further family support at a time when Kit has previously tried to deal with much of his diagnosis alone. Their involvement marks a contrast with his earlier determination to keep the truth contained while continuing with his job and everyday life.

Kit previously confided in Todd before Lisa discovered the truth when she confronted him about his behaviour at work. The diagnosis has gradually become known to more people around him, making it increasingly difficult for Kit to carry the burden privately.

His storyline has also highlighted male breast cancer, which is much less common than breast cancer in women but can still develop because men have a small amount of breast tissue. Kit’s diagnosis at stage three means the cancer has spread beyond the breast to nearby lymph nodes.

With chemotherapy now beginning, the focus turns to how Kit copes with treatment and how much he will allow Bernie, Brody and the rest of his family to support him.
