Coronation Street Kit Caught Up in Idris’ Secret Poker Plot
Kit unknowingly joins Idris’ secret poker night at Speed Daal as Ollie is given the advantage in a game that could have serious fallout for Idris.
Kit Green is set to become an unsuspecting part of Idris Sharma’s risky Speed Daal scheme in Coronation Street when he takes a seat at a private poker game without knowing what has been arranged behind the scenes. While the players believe they are competing normally, Idris has already put a plan in place designed to give Ollie an advantage.
The scheme begins after Alya Nazir tells Idris she wants £50,000 for her share of Speed Daal. Idris is still £15,000 short of the amount he needs, leaving him desperate to find another way of raising the cash and keeping his plans for the restaurant alive.
When Idris discovers that Ollie is an experienced poker player, he sees an opportunity and arranges a private game at Speed Daal. Idris provides Ollie with money to play and offers him a share of the winnings, while secretly arranging for the odds to favour him.
Kit is among those who later take their places around the poker table alongside Fiona Middleton. There is nothing to suggest Kit knows that Idris has interfered with the game, leaving him simply another player caught up in a scheme being controlled from the sidelines.
The situation becomes even more serious because Idris is not only gambling with his own money. He has included £5,000 borrowed from Leanne Battersby in the plan, despite Leanne having no idea that her cash is being used to fund a poker game.
Idris appears confident that the money is safe because he believes Ollie has been given enough of an advantage to win. However, the growing number of people involved means keeping the arrangement secret becomes increasingly difficult, particularly after Lauren Bolton overhears Idris giving Ollie instructions before the game.
As play continues, Kit and the other competitors eventually drop out, leaving Ollie and Fiona as the final two players. Ollie goes on to win, apparently delivering the result Idris wanted and allowing him to believe his gamble has paid off.
The real trouble begins away from the table when Idris discovers Brody Michaelis has been secretly drinking during the game. After Idris confronts him, Brody retaliates by revealing the truth about the poker plot to Leanne, including how her money has been used.
Leanne is furious when she learns what Idris has done and later tells him that he is no longer welcome at Speed Daal. Idris attempts to defend himself by insisting her money was never really at risk because the game had been arranged in his favour, but his explanation only underlines just how manipulated the evening had been.
For Kit, the poker night may initially look like nothing more than a game between friends and familiar faces. Idris, however, knows that the result has been influenced from the start, leaving several unsuspecting players involved in a scheme they knew nothing about.
