Coronation Street Kacey Targets Sarah With Shocking Demand

Kacey’s reason for targeting Sarah Platt is set to be revealed in Coronation Street as the prison inmate makes a desperate demand involving her son and Kit Green. Sarah initially finds some support in Kacey while adjusting to life behind bars, but that uneasy friendship takes a disturbing turn when Kacey decides Sarah’s connection to a police officer could be useful.

The trouble begins when Kacey reveals that her son has been arrested for armed robbery. Desperate to help him, she immediately looks towards Sarah after learning about her previous relationship with Kit and becomes convinced that Sarah can persuade him to intervene.

For Kacey, Sarah suddenly represents a possible route to somebody within the police. She wants Sarah to speak to Kit and get him to help her son, but Sarah knows she cannot offer the influence Kacey appears to believe she has.

Sarah explains that she and Kit are no longer together, which should make it clear that she cannot simply call on him whenever she needs something. Even beyond their split, Kit’s position as a serving police officer means there are obvious limits on what he could do about another person’s arrest.

Kacey does not want to hear those explanations, and her desperation over her son quickly changes the atmosphere between the two women. What might have begun as a request becomes much more serious when she refuses to accept that Sarah cannot deliver the result she wants.

That leaves Sarah in an increasingly difficult position because the problem itself is completely outside her control. She cannot determine what happens to Kacey’s son, she cannot order Kit to become involved and she cannot promise that speaking to him will make any difference.

Todd Grimshaw later learns about the pressure Sarah is facing and is horrified by what she tells him. Determined not to leave her dealing with the situation alone, Todd approaches Kit and explains that Sarah is being blackmailed inside prison.

Kit eventually visits Sarah, giving her the chance to make Kacey’s request directly. However, Sarah’s fears do not change the professional reality facing Kit, and he explains that becoming involved in the way Kacey wants could put his job in jeopardy.

That response leaves Sarah with an answer Kacey has already made clear she does not want to hear. The situation has effectively trapped Sarah between Kacey’s determination to protect her son and Kit’s inability to risk his career by becoming personally involved because of his connection to Sarah.

Kacey’s desperation also explains why Sarah becomes such an important target for her. From Kacey’s perspective, Sarah has access to somebody she believes could help, while Sarah knows that supposed influence is nowhere near as powerful as her fellow inmate imagines.

The real danger comes from Kacey refusing to accept that distinction. Sarah can explain the limits of Kit’s position as many times as she likes, but Kacey has become focused on getting help for her son and increasingly treats Sarah as responsible for making it happen.

Once Kit refuses to cooperate, Kacey’s anger turns back towards Sarah and the pressure intensifies. She warns Sarah that there will be a price to pay if anything happens to her son, making it clear that Sarah is now being blamed for an outcome she has no real power to control.

The armed robbery arrest therefore becomes the catalyst for a much bigger ordeal for Sarah inside prison. Kacey wants to protect her child at any cost, but her belief that Sarah can unlock special treatment through Kit leaves Sarah facing an increasingly threatening situation with no realistic way of giving her what she wants.
