Coronation Street Jodie makes bold move on Kit after Bethany clash

Jodie turns her attention towards Kit in Coronation Street as another potentially complicated relationship begins to develop around her.

Upcoming scenes see Bethany become increasingly uncomfortable about the possibility of Kit getting closer to Jodie. Rather than discouraging Jodie, however, Bethany’s reaction appears to have precisely the opposite effect.

Jodie decides to arrange a date with Kit, seemingly fully aware that her decision will upset Bethany. It is another example of Jodie refusing to back away when challenged, and her willingness to push ahead adds another layer of tension to an already complicated situation.

Kit agrees to spend time with her, placing him directly in the middle of the growing friction. He has problems of his own developing elsewhere, but Jodie appears determined to pull him into her orbit regardless of what anyone else thinks.

For Bethany, the issue is not simply that Kit may be moving on. Jodie’s behaviour makes the situation more difficult because she appears to know exactly what reaction she is provoking, making the date feel far more deliberate than an innocent attempt at romance.

Jodie has already demonstrated that she can be calculating when dealing with the people around her. Her decision to pursue Kit therefore carries a question over whether she is genuinely interested in him or whether the attraction lies partly in knowing that her actions will cause trouble.

Kit may also be entering the situation at a particularly vulnerable time. His increasingly strange behaviour and private problems mean he is not necessarily approaching the connection from a straightforward position either, potentially creating an unpredictable dynamic between the pair.

What begins as a date could therefore have consequences well beyond the two people involved. Bethany is already upset, while Jodie has shown little concern about creating conflict when she believes she can gain something from it.

The storyline also gives Jodie another opportunity to establish herself more firmly in Weatherfield. Rather than remaining on the edges of other people’s lives, she is rapidly forming connections and inserting herself into situations where emotions are already running high.

Whether Kit recognises the risks remains unclear. He may believe he is simply agreeing to a date, but Jodie’s motives and her increasingly provocative behaviour suggest their connection may be anything but uncomplicated.

For Bethany, watching the pair become closer could prove difficult. For Jodie, that discomfort may be part of the attraction, leaving the date with the potential to become another source of conflict very quickly.
